I think every front yard on the east coast should have at least one or two redbud trees planted in it. They have that beautiful spring color that makes your mind come out of hibernation. Their big round leaves also add interest to the landscape throughout the season. Redbuds are small understory trees that tend to do well in part shade. They naturally grow in an neat multi-branch shape that flairs out at the top. They are also in the legume family and create their own nitrogen. This is partly why they are great ro companion plant near other fruit trees, the other reason is that they attract pollinators at around the same time that other fruit trees are blooming.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0979/1376/6163/files/20250422_131018_7d111831-af56-4c27-a58f-f6047240d148.jpg?v=1783429680
american-sycamore
American Sycamore

BARE ROOT TREES

Plantanus Occidentalis

Hardiness Zones: 4-9

Soil: Prefer deep rich soil with consistent moisture, but will adapt to less than optimal soil. The leaves are smooth, emerald green, with a nice glossy sheen that start to turn yellow in the fall then gradually turn to a bright red as the season continues.
