This species of serviceberry grows larger than other species of serviceberry and has a growth habitat more like a small tree unlike other species that tend to get more shrubby in nature. Like all serviceberries the trees are fill with bright white flowers in the spring followed by edible berries. The berries are good and have a very mild blueberry-ish flavor. I've read that the flavor is milder than other serviceberry species like the Allegheny or Canadian serviceberries. The flowers are an amazing spring food source for the native bee populations. Another awesome part about this tree is it provides amazing fall color with bright reds and oranges.
